What are the differences between Marketing in the past and Marketing in the 21st century?
Marketing has become more and more present over time. The evolution of the marketing concept is a fascinating story of adaptation and organization.
The little competition and the minimum cost of production were integrated in a context of excessive demand on the part of the consumers. This was because consumers were willing to absorb any product as long as it was accessible and readily available. Consequently, companies opted for passive marketing on the concept that products were selling “on their own.” Back then, the only competitive weapon in marketing was overproduction.
Today, faced with the privileged position of the consumer and strenuous competition, companies focus on society as a whole. The study of needs is carried out by market agents who seek the creation, intensification and maintenance of relationships with consumer communities. The primary objective is to offer a greater degree of satisfaction to society without harming it. Politics and public opinion revolutionize marketing, expanding its borders towards ecology, minorities and social responsibility.
